What did I do with them?

I had two internships with Intergalactic. During the summers of 2021 and 2023, I worked on a variety of projects with senior mechanical, manufacturing, and design engineers. I developed many prototyping and design skills and got a feel for what it’s like to work in the highly regulated and competitive aerospace industry.

Summer 2023

I was primarily a design intern during my second internship with Intergalactic. I spent the majority of my time in SolidWorks working on large assemblies, redesigning components, and helping the team understand how our various projects would fit together. I also created dozens of engineering drawings and learned the basics of GD&T.

One of my main design projects over the summer was to figure out how to fit a different pump motor into a heavily constrained system that had already been optimized for the incumbent pump motor. While my managers were unsure if fitting the new pump motor would be possible, it was projected that doing so would result in savings on the order of $10 million, so I dug into it. I was able to fit the new pump motor into the assembly, and I learned a lot while I was doing it.

Due to confidentiality concerns, I am unable to show any screenshots of my design work here. Pictured at right are a few hardware projects I also helped with.
